If you haven’t read my previous posts about my Internship in Colorado this summer, The Pieces – Intern Chic, I am sharing the outfits I wear in a log on this post. My goal is to appear well dressed every day, AND to not wear the same outfit twice. I am no fashionista, and I am only bringing one checked bag and a carry on, so this will challenge my creativity.
The Outfits
Look One
Bon Voyage!!! – When traveling, I like to keep my outfit simple with just an outer layer and sneakers for comfort. Have I mentioned that I’m no Fashionista?
Look Two
Holy Snow Batman! – For my first day on the job I decided to confidently mix prints with light jewelry. I made sure to layer underneath with a cami to make sure the 48 degree temps didn’t get the best of me.
Look Three
Keeping it basic – The adjustment from sea level to high altitude is not for the faint of heart. Nonetheless, I enjoyed this black, white and grey pairing with a simple pendant necklace to keep this outfit basic, but anything but boring.
Look Four
Statement Necklace – I chose a neutral outfit just to ensure my necklace received the proper attention. I also really love these studded flats from DSW.
Look 5
Stripes – The basic striped shirt is a must in my wardrobe, and it’s a workhorse. It’s day 5 and I’m getting used to the altitude….I think.
Look 8
I Survived – One week into my Colorado internship I feel like my body is used to the altitude. The key’s to success are aspirin, water, and slow steps.
Look 9
Memorial Work Day – I had to work a half day this Memorial Day, so I threw on my leopard loafers and a perfectly fitted button down for a casual work day.
Look 10
Tights on Fleek – I haven’t worn tights in years! When I went on a hunt for tights, I knew I wasn’t going to get a single simple color, so instead I purchased several pairs of beautiful patterned tights. #teamwarmth
Look Eleven
Business Meeting – Today I attended a formal business meeting, but for me formal doesn’t mean boring. Accordingly, I paired this Strawberry colored J. Crew Factory blazer with a pair of Ann Taylor ankle pants for a formal meeting appropriate look.
Outfit 12
Stripes Lifes – There is just something amazing about the combo of black and navy, especially when you throw in a dynamite pair of heels.
Look Thirteen
Not so Casual Friday – It’s Friday, and I went for a comfortable, but not too casual office look. I love these pin striped pants from Banana Republic that can be both casual and comfortable.
Look Fourteen
This is my favorite look so far. These boyfriend jeans are giving me life this summer, and I curve these sandals I scored from DSW with a birthday gift card, birthday coupon and a $10 reward card.
Look Fifteen
Musician check-in day called for the Orchestra shirt and cropped slacks. It was a Sunday so I opted for my sandals on this casual work day.
Look Sixteen
Back to work – I do live for well paired basics. I didn’t want to go to work cause I’m still getting used to the six day work week, but I’m still committed to dressing with a semblance of purpose every day.
Look Seventeen
Warmth – It’s finally warm enough to wear a skirt, low of 46 and high of 75 degrees Fahrenheit!!!! Nothing like flowers and my favorite nude pumps to give my Tuesday a wardrobe pick-up.
Look Eighteen
The White Button Down – I adore these stripped slacks from Banana Republic. One of my work uniform combinations is a great pair of slacks with a button down, and the Ann Taylor Perfect Shirt definitely fits the bill.
Look Nineteen
The Almost Suit – I put together a suit like outfit by pairing my navy cropped slacks with a navy blazer and a white peplum top. It’s summer/spring so I went ahead and wore nude pumps for a modern business casual power suit.
Look Twenty
Blazer Love – I, along with everyone else, love this Strawberry blazer I purchased a couple of years ago from J. Crew Factory online. The weather is warmer, and the brighter colors of my wardrobe certainly reflect that fact.
Look Twenty – One
Making it Work – Confession: I don’t really like these cropped pants. The taper bothers me, but I brought them on this trip, so I will continue to wear them. Once I return to Florida, I will replace these severely tapered slacks with a colored pair.
Look Twenty – Two
Stripes Life – This is the summer of stripes. I love a good striped top, blazer, and dress. There is just something beautifully classic about stripes and a solid bold color. Plus, this dress fits my shape beautifully and is cut just right to be work appropriate.
Look Twenty Three
Heels Maybe – I also brought heels to the office to wear with this outfit as I could not decide which to wear. I inherently prefer either heels or scrappy sandals with ankle pants, but I am really feeling flats today.
Look Twenty Four
Prints – I adore the print on this j. crew blouse. I always wear a basic bottom with this top so as to not detract from the greatness that is this blouse.
Look Twenty Five
Concert Black – I have to wear black for all of the orchestra concerts here, so I paired my fav peplum top from Ann Taylor with black slacks and black shoes….. aka “the uniform.”
Look Twenty Six
Fall/Summer Dress – I purchased this dress to wear in the fall and winter in Florida for an easy everyday, running errands look. However, here in Colorado the nights cool down so much that this dress has become a summer staple.
