Let’s move past the elephant in the room: this Spring Capsule Wardrobe is meant to serve as inspiration, not as an incentive to go out and spend a lot of money. Actually, I do not own the exact items on this list, and many of the items listed will move into my summer capsule as well. Instead, this capsule serves as inspiration and the outfits I put together from this capsule help me quickly look put together on almost every occasion.
You may remember that I spent several years purchasing quality pieces for my year-round wardrobe, so I am no stranger to this concept. One thing I learned from having a very solid basic wardrobe is that the clarity and choices having these pieces brings cut down on constant spending and reinforces intentional and minimal spending. Matter of fact, from these 32 pieces, you can put together over 250 outfit combinations (stay tuned to see a few)!
When considering this capsule, realize that many of these pieces may already be in your wardrobe. They may be a different color or shape, but can easily stand in for what you see above. For example, I do not own the white low heels shown, but I do own black low heels that will substitute well and are just as transitory when considering outfits to wear. I did not include accessories in this capsule because the options are numerous and often serve as the trendier pieces that will elevate your outfits.
Every item linked below is one for which I can stand behind its make and quality, but I will list a few alternatives to more expensive pieces that I know will fit more budgets. SHOP THE SPRING CAPSULE WARDROBE
Tops
I personally love many of the bustiers and corsets Zara has to offer. Plus, the muscle tee bodysuits are a trendier piece that will serve this capsule well. Also, the oversized button-ups I own are thrifted, and I encourage you to shop second-hand in the men’s sections for alternatives to what I have listed above.
Outer Layer
When I bought the pictured Zara jacket, the young cashier proceeded to tell me that Varsity jackets are so good at Zara. He further went on to tell me that a store just down the way was selling them for $600. This brought me back to the starter jacket trend of my childhood and I plan to rock a few different options this Spring.
Bottoms
I know that low-rise jeans are on trend, but the way my body is set up, mid and high-rise are the only options that will live in my closet. Speaking of the 90’s, cargo pants are trending and I am partial to Zara for tons of great options.
Skirts/Dresses
Honestly, I am still eyeing the denim skirt above. I am not convinced I will wear it, but it’s in consideration for my wardrobe. Until I decide, I will wear the denim mini-skirt I already own. Alternatively, I really wanted a pop of red in my wardrobe, so I purchased this red satin skirt, but the cream option linked above would serve very well for transitioning into summer.
Shoes
I am such a shoe girl! Honestly, if I didn’t find a wall of shoes to be wasteful, I would be that person. Instead, I curated a set of shoes that will serve multiple occasions, are comfortable, and oh-so cute! In addition, I may purchase these slides from Steve Madden or this version of the Bay slides.
Elevate With Accessories
With these articles of clothing, the options are endless. You can stick with a feminine silhouette, break the rules, or serve chic realness. Nope, you do not have to buy a bunch of neutrals because these pieces are classic, so feel free to purchase these items in your favorite color to have even more fun with mixing and matching.
